Twilight so much more than a shitty vampire series

When I first read the first Twilight book, it was 2006 (yeah I have the first cover book I'm mad good like that) and one of the girls that I worked with at Dominos suggested it to me. I went straight from work that day, to the bookstore (which really mean that I walked from the outside of the shopping center to the inside), and i brought it. It didn't seem all that amazing to me at first, and not gonna lie, it did suck me in. I thought there was only the one work and it wasn't until over a year later that I discovered that there was a second and third book. Both of which I brought and read in the one week. That made me team Jacob. I knew the book s weren't the best, I know this and honestly there are a lot of rip offs of other books in there. I don't deny this, and as much as i love twilight, i hate it at the same time. As far as I'm concerned breaking dawn doesn't exist. And Smeyers has ruined vampires in my opinion. This however isn't about my love/hate relationship with the books and movies. this about what comes after it. without twilight, i wouldn't have some of the friends that i have now.

I went to the signing at Gifts For The Geek in Geelong, the one with Edi and Kellen, and I went by myself. I made friends with the girls in front of me. Lisa, Michelle, Ness and Cassie. I didn't know them at all seeing as they were from Melbourne. I didn't even know they were part of ATM at the time. But I soon learned that. I saw them a few more times around Geelong for various things, and I eventually met others in their group, both online and offline. Debbie, Lisa T, I am probably forgetting people here. But from that I've done a magazine interview with them, and filmed a commercial for GFTG with some of them. From doing things like that, I've also gotten to know people from another TA group. I'm not completely sure who belongs to what group to be honest, and I have friends and facebook and twitter from it. Not a single one of them has been a bitch to me on meeting me, sure some of us have little spats but what group of friends doesn't?

I've been to one Twilight event in sydney, where I stayed with Ness, and made new friends like Zoe, Tannith, Tahlia, Sarah, Naomi, Tyffyny and possibly people that I can't remember, and those that i've listed along with people like Karen, Jemma, Robyn, Cordi, Nat, Beaver, Teneille and god knows if I have missed anyone, have made being into twilight worth it. It's like a small community of people. Not everything revolves around Twilight, i've talked movies, books, movies with these people, life issues, things like that. I've watched as crisis and life issues have hit some of us. And i've watched as we've all rallied around that person, and done what we can. Even if its something as small as sending a card, or a tweet to show that we care.

It doesn't matter how old we are, where we live, what our families are like, we still support each other, we still get along. And I wouldn't trade any of the friendships that I've made from this for anything. This past week, with the rather sad and unfortunate loss of one of the girls partners really reminded me of this. The outpouring of love and support from the Twilight community, from ATM and the others, has shown me again as it did a few months ago with Lisa, that those small things don't matter. We have each others backs, we look out for each other. We care.

The gist of this - Without Twilight I wouldn't have some of these friends, i wouldn't have had some of the best times of my life, I wouldn't have laughed until i've cried. I wouldn't have cried for others. I love the girls, and beaver and I feel like everyone deserves to know this. I love you guys okay.
